Ohrenberger Library Website

You can use this site to:

  •  Explore the Ohrenberger Library’s collection with your student to help them select books to borrow when they visit.
    • Please be sure to check out my grade level recommendations and take a look to see what books have been newly added to our collection.
  • Search the Boston Public Library’s collection if we don’t have the book that you want in our Library.
    • We are on MLS delivery and can request books from other BPL branches and have them delivered via courier to the O! BPL books can be returned the same way- just bring them back to our Library and the courier will return the books to the appropriate branch libraries!
  • Check out digital collections available to your child through the Sora app which allows them to borrow books to read on their Chromebook or any mobile device. To log into Sora, your child should choose Find A Book on our website and then click on the link below MLS Collection-Sora By Overdrive. When prompted, they should choose Boston Public Schools from the drop down menu and then log in using their school email.
  •  Click on the link to the Virtual Learning Commons where students can research different topics on Boston Public Schools’ curated databases.
  • Stay up to date with news and events happening in and around our library.

School uniforms are mandatory at the Beethoven-Ohrenberger. You have the ability to “opt out” of the uniform policy for personal/cultural/religious beliefs.  If you desire to opt out, please contact the school office for details.

K1-5 Mandatory Uniform Policy – Navy tops, Khaki or navy-blue bottom – spirit wear allowed.

Grades 6-8 Encouraged Uniform policy – White polos or Navy tops, Khaki, navy or jean bottom (no rips or holes) – spirit wear allowed.

Uniform Free 1st Friday

On the first Friday of every month, students have the choice to not wear a uniform.  In exchange, a suggested donation (amount of your choice) can be made to our school. 100% of the money raised will go back into our schools allowing enrichment opportunities and events for all of our students and families.

Uniform Exchange Program

Both schools maintain a FREE uniform exchange program that runs throughout the school year.  Anyone can donate uniforms than no longer fit your student or pick out gently used uniforms to use for the year.   Ask the main office at the Beethoven or Ohrenberger for the location of the uniform exchange program at your school.

Beethoven Arrival and Dismissal

No student should be left in the yard unsupervised. The staff does not report until 8:15am, so please do not drop the children off before that time. Parents are responsible for picking up children on time. Dismissal of walkers begins at 3:05 pm.

The parking lot is small and must accomodate both the buses and parents, so please do not block any entrances or park in the bus lane.

Always use the cross walk when bringing your child to their designated drop-off spot and when getting them from their designated pick-up spot. Please do not leave your car idling in the parking lot and do not block the bus stop or the fire station on the street.

Be conscious of the amount of time your car is in the lot, as other parents need to get in and out.

Ohrenberger Arrival and Dismissal

Drop Off Procedures

  • Doors open at 8:15am. There is no one on duty to supervise students who are dropped off before this time.
  • During arrival, cars should enter through the front entrance only (West Boundary Road)
  • Proceed down the hill and follow the white arrows to take the second left into the valet drop off line.
  • Please do not drop your child off anywhere other than in front of the gym. It is not safe to have students walking through the parking lot during drop off.

Pick Up Procedures

  • Students being picked up will be dismissed outside of the gym doors.
  • During dismissal, cars should enter through the front entrance only. Proceed down the hill and follow the white arrows to take the second left into the valet pick up line.
  • Please do not park or pull over along the side of the road to try to avoid the pick-up line. It is not possible for staff to supervise students if parents do not follow our valet pick up routine. It is also dangerous to have cars trying to back out of parking spaces or making U-turns in the middle of dismissal.
  • If you walk to school to pick your child up, please walk all the way to the gym and check in with a staff member before leaving with your child.  Students are instructed not to leave until a teacher gives them directions to do so.
